Deafestival connects Kentucky’s growing deaf and hard of hearing community

The Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is rolling into town on Saturday for the annual Deafestival, an event aimed at serving the more than 700,000 deaf and hard of hearing people living throughout Kentucky.

NEW HOTLINE SUPPORTS FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH HEARING LOSS

Looking to help the families of children recently diagnosed with hearing loss, the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing launched its Listen-Learn-Link hotline.

2019 EHDI Meeting – Abstract Submission Process Open

The 2019 EHDI Annual Meeting Planning Committee is now accepting proposals for breakout sessions, posters and Instructional Sessions. A limited number of Instructional Sessions will be offered on Sunday, March 3, 2019 (prior to the Annual Meeting) and on Wednesday March 6, 2019 (following the Annual Meeting).

Deaf advisory committee starts work on milestones

South Dakota’s new advisory panel on deaf and hard of hearing children began work Friday.

The committee is setting milestones parents can use in helping youngsters get ready for kindergarten.

Strategies for using Spoken Language

Moms of deaf children create Instagram account to teach ASL

Meagan Ackerman and Lana Wilson, are two mothers both raising children with hearing loss. The two mothers met on social media and decided to join together to create an account to teach their family and friends American Sign Language.
