National Public Health Week

It’s National Public Health Week! Did you know that the Health Services and Resources Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provide grant funding for newborn hearing screening? These grants include state-based programs [http://www.infanthearing.org/states/index.html] as well as a technical resource center [http://www.infanthearing.org/index.html], a family support center [https://handsandvoices.org/fl3/index.html], a medical home initiative [https://www.aap.org/…/Early-Hearing-Detection-and-Intervent…], and training to pediatric audiologists [https://www.aucd.org/template/page.cfm?id=754].

Together, all these organizations comprise our nation’s EHDI System.

EHDI and Public Health Week

It’s National Public Health Week! Did you know that EHDI is a relatively new public health program? In 2002, congress passed legislation that provided funding to 2 national organizations to oversee EHDI—these organizations are the Health Services and Resources Administration (https://mchb.hrsa.gov/maternal-child-health-initiatives/early-hearing-detection-and-intervention.html) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/hearingloss/index.html).

National Public Health Week

April 5-11 is National Public Health Week (NPHW)! Did you know that EHDI is a public health program? The theme for NPHW is “Building Bridges to Better Health.” Building on this theme, we will be posting the public health history of EHDI and EHDI’s impact on public health. See more about NPHW at http://www.nphw.org.

Missed the EHDI Conference but still want to enjoy all the recorded content?

Today is your last chance to sign up.

The 2021 Virtual EHDI Conference on March 2-5, 2021 was a tremendous success. Over 1,650 people registered for the conference which included almost 200 presentations, posters, and instructional sessions about how to improve EHDI Programs. But what if you missed the conference?
No problem. All of the conference presentations, posters, and instructional sessions were recorded and are available for on-demand viewing (with captioning and ASL interpreting). If you didn’t register for the conference and still want to enjoy all of this great content, or if you previously registered for the conference and want to add one or more instructional sessions, you can register until March 29th at https://ehdimeeting.org/Reg.cfm. Registration fees remain the same!

All registrants (those who registered for the live version or are registering now for on-demand) can view the recorded conference content until May 5, 2021.

New registrants will receive an activation email by April 2, 2021 from 2021 EHDI Conference/Alliant Events to log-in to the system for viewing recorded sessions.

Continuing education credit is also available for new registrants. You will find instructions and applicable forms you need to complete at https://ehdiconference.org.
